Die Drau entlang - Kärntens grüne Lebensader

Along the Drava River – Carinthia’s green Lifeline

Story

The Drau is not only Carinthia’s largest river, but with a length of 749 kilometers it is also the fourth largest tributary of the Danube. The Drau meanders through Carinthia for 264 kilometers, past picturesque mountain regions such as the Kreuzeck Group or the Karawanken, before leaving the country again at Lavamünd in the direction of Slovenia.

The documentary Die Drau entlang – Kärntens grüne Lebensader is a cinematic journey along the largest and most important river in southern Austria and a portrait of unique river landscapes and mountain regions at the crossroads of three cultures. The film takes us along the river to hidden gems, to mighty castles and remote farms, through deep side valleys with their mountain streams, all of which flow into the Drau, and to mighty mountain ranges and rock massifs on both sides of its banks, but also through the long, varied and sometimes painful history of this region.
